The 2012 Long Haul features more Cabernet Franc than any previous vintage, and the wine benefits greatly by the varietal’s larger contribution. More than any other wine in our portfolio, the Long Haul balances the broad-shouldered masculinity of its Red Mountain origins with the plush textures and nuanced character possible in Washington State. Deeply complex, the wine opens with fresh crushed currant and blackberry and broadens with cigar-scented cedar, slate and chocolate. The flavors of the wine are revealed in layers with spice-poached black cherry, hints rocky mineral and vanilla. The acidity and tannin work together in remarkable fashion to provide length to the finish and superior aging potential.
